A little RP distraction…

I’ve had a couple RP character ideas for a while now.

Last night, I decided I’d roll one of them up. A male Worgen DK.

Part of his story is already written (as a worgen in Gilneas and as a DK in the Plague-lands). I’ve crossed a lot of time lines/expansions in his story, but who cares. This is his story. Also, I’m not much of a writer, so bear with me.

His father:
Naizer was a monk who had given up adventuring; settled down in Gilneas and looking to raise a family (before the curse). He still practiced his arts, and would teach anyone who asked him. He focused heavily on meditation and inner peace.

His mother:
Goethyn was the daughter of the town blacksmith, who followed in her father’s footsteps. She worked in the smithy ever since she could lift a hammer. She was also a bit of tom-boy. Her means of escaping society was in hunting. On slow days when the workload was small, she’d go out and hunt food for the family and for the neighbors who were having a rough go at life.

The two met when Naizer brought his horse in to be re-shoed. She was taken by the aura of calm that radiated from him. He, by her strength and stature. To be cliche, love at first sight.

They courted for a year, then married. A year later they had a son and named him Thorissian.

When Goethyn’s father died, she wanted to take over the smithy. Her sister (Chantelle) wasn’t interested in the place. So they agreed that Goethyn got the smithy and Chantelle got the family farm.

[The worgen outbreak in Gilneas is well known, so I don’t need to rehash that.]

The mental discipline, that is the core of the martial training Naizer taught, is what kept many of the townsfolk from succumbing to the animalistic urges that comes with the worgen conversion.

Though it took time, life returned to a semblance of its former order. Naizer and Goethyn decided that they were not going to have more children.

As is normal in families, Thorissian learned the arts of his parents. In all likelihood, he would have grown up and taken over the smithy. However, the universe had other plans.

As the Lich King was sweeping the world, to both destroy his foes and replenish his ranks of death knights, he made his way through Gilneas. Naizer and Goethyn died trying to protect Thorissian.

Thorissian was abducted, tortured, and eventually corrupted into a death knight under the Lich King’s command.

[The DK story is well known, so I’m not rehashing that either. ]

When the death knights broke free of Arthus’ control, Thorissian decided he would return home. See if anything remained of the city, if Aunt Chantelle still lived on the farm, and if the smithy was still standing.

Chantelle survived the attack and had rebuilt the family farm. The smithy was still standing. However, it was apparent no one had stepped foot in there since the city was invaded.

Thorissian reopened the smithy. Unfortunately, as a death knight who had been under Arthus’ command, the towns-folk steered clear of him (and the smithy). The only business he got was from travelers who didn’t know his history. In the city of outcasts, he was an outcast.

Though his aunt was well respected in the community, it was apparent that Thorissian’s presence unnerved the townsfolk to the point they began to shun Chantelle as well. He decided at that point that he needed to move on and find his future.

Chantelle dismantled the Smithy and stored what equipment she could, for the eventuality that Thorissian would be able to setup a shop elsewhere. Thorissian then slipped out of town to find his future and rebuild his life.
