A couple of us went to see Deadpool last night.

When I saw the trailers, I didn’t realize it was Inara (Morena Baccarin) playing the part of Vanessa. If I can’t have Firefly back, then I’m more than happy having my fix of cast members in other shows and movies. I’m still nerd-gasming over her being in the movie.

I’m not going to rate it X out of 5, as that’s a purely subjective number that means nothing to anyone else. I will say that more Marvel movies need to get a bit grittier and delve into the darker side of some of the vigilante style heroes.

They did the character justice. While there were rainbows and unicorns in the closing credits, they didn’t try to Disney-fy anything about Deadpool or his shenanigans. Yes, rainbows and unicorns. You read that right. Stick around for the entirety of the credits (opening and closing) as you won’t be disappointed.

For the first time in many moons, I left a movie theater happy. I was glad I spent the money for admission. I plan on spending that money again and seeing it in the theaters another time or two. They did his character justice. Ryan Reynolds has risen above Green Lantern. He has redeemed himself.

*two very enthusiastic thumbs up*

  1. Thanks for the advise!
I went to see this movie yesterday. It was fun and fast, the credits were terrific! The writers were the real heroes of the story, that make me laugh.
I didn’t know it was an X-man flick as I don’t really follow the franchise. Yet, as a layman, I enjoyed it quite a bit!
